Polyphonic (aka Will Freyman) began experimenting with music at an early age. He has studied classical European piano, Indonesian gamelan music, medieval European choral music, and most recently Latin percussion. Producing hip-hop and electronic music since his early teens, the abstract soundscapes can only be classified as incredibly detailed pieces of sonic architecture.
He spearheaded a number of group recordings on Audio 8 including 2001's Dolce Stil Nuovo album Infrastructure, 2003's Certain Sound, and in 2004 Prostitute Karaoke. In 2005 he executive produced Pugslee Atomz's Playing With Matches and released his critically acclaimed debut solo album Abstract Data Ark. He co-produced Wick's Locket in a Well in 2006, and released a full length Prostitute Karaoke album. Other production work has appeared on Galapagos4 Records, Birthwrite Records, and Highpoint Lowlife Records. Polyphonic also produced music for the George Coates Performance Works theater in San Francisco and for the independent film Sufi Lunacy.
2007 was a busy year for Polyphonic: Audio 8 released his collaboration with Ben Lamar Juba Dance's Orange, and his collaboration with Serengeti titled Dont Give Up. As of fall of '08, he has wrapped up the new Juba Dance album Orange Juiced and is working on a solo album Easy Listening For Empire Building, Serengeti and Polyphonic's Terradactyl, and Juba Dance's Apple.
