Remember D.J. Jazzy Jeff? Well this is definitely Jazzy,
but not Jeff. Although I wonder if he's related somehow?
Benjamin Lamar heads this compilation accompanied by
Polyphonic the Verbose (Will Freyman). In the mood for some
soul, jazz, dance, blues, or hip-hop? This project has it all
for lazy weekend drives or late night mellow sessions at home
with dinner and a bottle of wine. I know...odd combination,
but Juba Orange seems to be able to meld the current hip-hop
craze with funk and slow blues tunes. Definitely a Chicago
influence seems to be the base for this project. Obviously so,
since Lamar grew up on the south side of Chicago yet now lives
in Rio de Jeneiro. Rio sees a lot of orange glow from the sun,
and the tinge of the CD is as attractive with its distinctive
and very intriguing artwork. The orange hue of the cover lends
to the feel of the overall composition and mellow-mood of the
recording.
