Machismo and idle banter about "real hip-hop" are tired elements of rap
shows that wouldn't be found at a Serengeti set. Dave Cohn, aka Serengeti
is a genre-hopping ultra-modern rapper, one foot solidly within hip-hop, the
other experimenting with electro and indie-rock. His collaboration with
avant-garde producer Polyphonic the Verbose, Don't Give Up (Audio 8), to
be released this fall, is a testament to the inevitable collide of hipsters
clad in tight pants and dudes, well—ya' know, wearing their pants a bit too
big and slowly bobbing their heads to the beat.
